In 2009, several area community leaders determined there was a need to establish a community-based, not-for-profit, community health center to provide primary care to the uninsured, underinsured, Medicaid and Medicare patients residing in the Craig, Delaware and Ottawa County region. A grant application was submitted to the federal government and after four months the committee was advised that the application had been denied. Although frustrated, the committee decided to move forward with additional applications and established a board of directors, instituted corporate bylaws, and applied to the state to become incorporated as a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation. Their persistence paid off and in 2014 the third grant application was approved.
On March 10, 2014, Community Health Center of Northeast Oklahoma, Inc., doing business as Route 66 Health Clinic, opened its doors and began seeing patients who were in need of preventative and primary care services. Dr. William Durick, has been with the Health Center since its inception and has been instrumental in providing primary and senior care to the Tri-County area.
What’s unique about a Federally Qualified Health Center is the wide array of primary care services that we provide to all eligible patients regardless of their ability to pay. Established fees are based upon household size and income, private insurance requirements, ancillary services and referrals for specialty care.
